life with the lawrences: stitch fix august 2015

Pixley Abriella Waffle Knit Cardigan

Stitch Fix is here!

I just got my 7th Stitch Fix shipment (I haven’t been great about posting all of them, but you can see some of my past shipments here!)  This one was another AWESOME fix (I love my current stylist, Meghan, and have been requesting that she continue to do all of my fixes – love that you can do that!).

To quickly recap: you go online here, fill out a style profile to let them know all your likes and dislikes, and a stylist picks out 5 clothing items/accessories to ship to you.  Then, a few weeks later, there’s a box full of clothes just waiting for you on your doorstep – it’s like Christmas came early!  Once you check out the box and decide what you like and don’t like, you keep whatever you want and ship back the rest.  If you decide to keep everything, you get a 25% discount!  When you order your Stitch Fix, there is a styling fee of $20.  If you choose to keep any of the items, the $20 fee is credited toward your balance.

My favorite part is that it really is perfect for a mother with a young child – have you ever tried to go try on clothes at a store with kids in tow? If so then I’m sure you know what I mean! That’s one of the best things about Stitch Fix, in my opinion – they ship everything right to your door, so all you need to do is try it on in the comfort of your own home, on your own time (naptime, anyone?) and ship back whatever you don’t like in the provided, postage-paid envelope within 3 days.

The other really fun thing about Stitch Fix is that it’s a great way to step a little bit out of your comfort zone.  You provide them with information about your style via your profile, and can also link to a Pinterest board to give your stylist a sense of the types of clothes you like.  This month, my stylist sent me 1 item directly from my Pinterest board, plus 4 other items of her choosing, with careful consideration of the note I left for her.  For my next Fix, I told her not to worry about sending anything directly from my Pinterest – I want to be completely surprised next time! Stitch Fix gives you a lot of options that way, where you can request specific pieces or leave it completely up to your stylist.

For this current Fix, I requested mostly tops, with a dress or 2, and Meghan really delivered.  I did ask for more short-sleeved tops for next time, since it’s still way hot around here and will probably continue to be warm for a while, but it’s nice to have these pieces for once the fall weather hits! So, without further ado…

First up was this fun blouse with the awesome print in the back.  It will be perfect for work!

Next up was the Papermoon Cresson Knit top – this one was off of my Pinterest board, and I love it! Casual and SUPER comfy.

The next top I got was the Papermoon Wynn Blouse – this one was the only piece in the box that didn’t really work for me.  I like the pattern a lot, but the sizing/fit just wasn’t right.  No big deal though – 4/5 ain’t bad!

The next piece was my favorite of the whole Fix – the Gilli Joanna dress.  I LOVE this dress – it’s comfy, flattering and versatile.  I’ve already worn it once!

Finally, we have the Pixley Abriella Waffle Knit Cardigan – I already have a bunch of cardigans, but this one was so cute and unique with the waffle knit and the draping that I decided to keep it anyway.  Meghan suggested pairing it with the Gilli dress and some boots for the fall, which I think will be perfect!

Even though the Wynn blouse wasn’t quite right for me, with the 25% discount for keeping all your items, it ended up being cheaper to keep it than to send it back! The blouse was $48, but my Buy 5 Discount was $60 – so I would have PAID $12 extra just to ship it back! No brainer there – either it will look better as I continue to lose weight, or I’ll find someone else who loves it and pass it on :) So, another 5/5 fix for me! Meghan is really knocking it out of the park!

life with the lawrences: stitch fix february 2015

Stitch Fix is back! Ok, so it never really went anywhere, but after I got pregnant it didn’t make sense to keep ordering clothes that, well, just wouldn’t fit for a while (they don’t do maternity, unfortunately.  Or fortunately, since I didn’t really need a reason to buy more maternity clothes ) Update: in the […]

Lil Law Gender Reveal

Last Thursday, Daren and I had a really fun and exciting experience – our anatomy scan!  After a small but stressful scheduling snafu (my midwives’ office forgot to fax the prescription over to the imaging center), we got everything sorted out and settled in for our hour-long ultrasound. I had no idea the anatomy scan […]

best of 2013 – your favorite posts

2013 has been an amazing year around here.  We have been so fortunate to have so many things to celebrate this year, in our own lives and in those of our families and friends.  Weddings (including our own!), engagements, new houses, pregnancies and babies seemed to be happening left and right. Three years ago, our little puppy princess was born  Well, technically her birthday was yesterday, but with the whole holiday thing and all I figured today would work just as well to celebrate.  Since the day we got her 3 months later, she has been such a huge part of our world.  Whether she’s driving […]
